Leanne has a
strong desire to create objects with her hands. “To me the process of
throwing and forming a piece on the wheel simply out of a ball of clay is
the most enjoyable and satisfying part of creating pottery. The feeling of
the smooth cool clay in my hands has a calming effect on me that clears my
mind.” Leanne try’s to convey her inspirations by establishing a
connection to the elements in nature, through texture, pattern, and colour
in her pieces. The glaze palette consists of a grey water blue, moss
green, sky blue, and a rusty rich brown.
The overall
aesthetic of her pottery culminates from her love of nature. Her
childhood memories of summers exploring the outdoors at the family
cottage, and being engulfed by the beauty of the landscape have influenced
her greatly.
Leanne
aspires to create pieces that are a pleasure to use and admire. The
porcelain and stoneware pottery is suitable for everyday use including use
in the dishwasher and microwave. Her pottery is available throughout
Ontario in
gallery shops or you may visit her at one
of the many
shows
she takes part in.
Leanne
attended The Ontario College of Art and Design in the 90's in preparation
